Evaluations

Following a phone consultation and completion of intake paperwork, an evaluation will be scheduled in the setting of your choice.

Evaluations are completed using a standardized assessment, caregiver interview, and clinical observation of your child engaged in meaningful activities within their natural environment. A report will be completed and results will be discussed with you. Meaningful goals are created, taking family schedule, child’s strengths, and areas in need of support into account. A curated plan of care is established, and treatment frequency is decided.

Therapy

Sessions will occur in the home or community setting. Frequency will be determined based on evaluation results.

Sessions are designed to meet the preferences and learning styles of your child. The therapist will present meaningful, play based activities to improve developmental skills. Caregivers will be taught and empowered to embed strategies through everyday routines and activities.

Miriam P. Kennetz, MOTR/L

Owner, Occupational Therapist

Prior to starting my private practice, I worked at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital for 6 years in the early intervention department.

Within the early intervention setting, I valued the sacredness of being in the natural environment and helping caregivers and children achieve their goals through meaningful, play based activities. As years went by, I found myself wanting to blend the art of caregiver coaching with hands-on clinical skills. I also felt deeply convicted to protect my work-life balance and spend more time with my family. This is where my dream to start a mobile private practice was born.

I, myself, am a parent to a neurodivergent learner and have experienced what it’s like to be on the receiving end of pediatric therapy services. The perspective I bring as both a clinician and mom is unique. My clinical practice prioritizes the establishment of connection and trust, along with the implementation of evidence based strategies that can be easily embedded into home life.

As a clinician, I do want to help your child grow and flourish developmentally. Most importantly, I hope to support your child’s growth in self confidence, self advocacy, and self worth.

  • "A child has the right to become what they are capable of becoming, no matter how different from the parent or parent's blueprint for the child. This is their inalienable right."

  • "Challenging behaviors occur when the demands being placed upon a child outstrip the skills he has to respond adaptively to those demands."

Our Process

Proudly serving Memphians in the home, academic, or community setting

Step 1

Schedule your phone or virtual consultation. Consultations are followed up with an email, detailing information discussed and request to move forward with evaluation, if appropriate.

Step 2

Schedule an evaluation with the therapist, to take place in the setting of your choice. After the evaluation, a detailed report is written that includes goals, frequency recommended, and personalized plan of care.

Step 3

Treatment setting and frequency of treatment is established. The therapist will reach out to start treatment sessions. Clients should expect frequent collaboration between therapist and family.

Step 4

To ensure services and goals established remain appropriate, the therapist will administer OT re-evaluations every six months. Results and recommendations are shared with caregivers.

Insurance & Billing

Kennetz Kids is accepting self-pay clients, Katie Beckett funded clients, and HSA/FSA. The organization does not directly bill commercial insurance providers.

*OUT OF NETWORK CLIENTS: Kennetz Kids will provide a Superbill, upon request, for private insurance reimbursment.

A "superbill" for therapy is a detailed invoice provided by a therapist to a client, outlining the services received during therapy sessions, including diagnosis codes. The client submits the claim to their insurance company for potential reimbursement, especially if the therapist is considered "out-of-network" with the insurance plan. The “superbill” acts as a receipt that contains all the necessary information for insurance processing.
